October 10: Ambient Drone

Together with attenuation circuit, Team Angewandte Elektronik and P8 I’m organizing a concert. Four artists come together in two collaborations to dive into dark soundscapes. For local people there’s a possibility to get a place inside the location. If that it is not an option, you can still enjoy the experience via live stream.

Bu.d.d.A. – „Bund des dritten Auges“ is a fairly new project involving experimental musicians Sascha Stadlmeier (EMERGE, attenuation circuit Records) and Chris Sigdell (Leaden Fumes (ex-Phased), b°tong) and which plays meditative ambient drones. Sometimes they play with a guest musician, and sometimes not. For those who need names, it may sound like Troum meets Earth together with Eno… but in reality Bu.d.d.A. builds on the legacy of German industrial band NID (1995-2005), who Chris was a member of, and which released a post-humous CD on Auf Abwegen (Asmus Tietchens, etc.).

Black Annis X Brnjsmin

Black Annis is a godess with iron claws – sometimes a black cat, sometimes in human form. She is no luminary, but passion and anger. Black Annis uses instruments unconventionally to express social issues and her anger.

Giovanni Raabe – aka Brnjsmin – generates a sound somewhere between ambient, drone and noise. The effects used are in part improvised, in part sample or synth based.

Their mutual set is in its contradictory nature as harmonic as destructive – and always a little bit absurd.

How to attend

There are two possibilities for people who have the possibility to join physically. If you have no possibility to come, you can check this blog, the facebook event ( or my twitter account for a link to join the live stream.

If you have some spare money and want to be inside the location, you can buy tickets here: Because of the current situation the tickets are very limited.

If the weather is nice, you can have a table outside the location and watch and listen to the show on a big screen. It’s for free and you can buy drinks – but please reserve your table here:

If you like it, please support the artists and/or location. You can buy their music via the bandcamp links and support the location via paypal (see the “Spenden” button on the right side of the official event page:

Introduction to the philosophy of the Frankfurt School

This Thursday, 2nd of August, there is an introducing talk about the theories of the Frankfurt School (in German usually called “Kritische Theorie”) in Karlsruhe. The event takes place as part of an exhibition about the Revolution of ’68 and is co-organized by a local anarchist group. I’m very interested to see how the speaker masters to present such a complicated theory and – hopefully – I will learn some new aspects of the history of the School.

The event will be in German and can be found here.
